JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for developing Commercial Real Estate Loan opportunities for a specific target market of small- to medium-size businesses and business professionals; providing a superior level of service; and ensuring compliance with Bank policies and procedures. The BDO attains established individual, department, and Bank goals through active participation in sales management and officer call programs. Solicits, negotiates, and coordinates or refers to appropriate bank personnel the closing of major and complex consumer, residential, equipment, SBA (7A & 504). commercial building and business loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures; develops business checking and deposit relationships with customers; and promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.

Job Duties:
• Originate loans for the Bank & achieve individual loan production goals
• Implement effective marketing strategies to generate loan production
• Work closely with Bank clients to facilitate gathering necessary documentation
• Exhibit thorough understanding and application of the Bank’s loan production processes
• Refer deposit & non-SBU loan opportunities to Relationship Managers as opportunities arise
• Effectively communicate with supervisor regarding loan production issues
• Work efficiently within the Bank’s loan production processes & across departments
• Enable the Bank to achieve budgeted production and profitability targets

Salary Range and Bonus Potential:
• $70,000 - $95,000 per year

Job Requirements:
• Strong background and expertise in SBA 504, 7A, & conventional commercial real estate is required
• Proven track record of successful sales
• Bachelor’s degree (BA or equivalent) from a college or university plus four years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• Work experience should consist of a financial analysis or lending background
• Experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi task are a must
• Being a team player is a must
• Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain professional poise at all times
