JOB DESCRIPTION: The Application Engineer will develop project system requirements and define system specifications for Variable Speed Drive application for the Industrial division systems project requirements with domestic and international customers.

Job Duties:
• Design and configure system specifications collaborating with the OEM’s (original equipment manufacturers) and customers per contract and domestic and international industry standards to ensure quality designs and on-time delivery for the following:
o Low and/or medium voltage variable frequency drives for new and/or retrofit projects
o Harmonics filter panels, Incoming panels and output reactor panels
• Troubleshoot low/medium voltage, AC/DC variable frequency drive application problems with customer onsite
• Design electrical circuit drawings to ensure a design that meets project requirements and quality standards
• Ensure technical guidance to internal/external customers and suppliers as required to ensure total project requirements
• Maintain and develop processes and procedures to ensure the configuration and tuning of VFDs
• Confirm “as shipped” systems meet client requirements defined in the client contract, including system specifications and performance guarantees while achieving business goals and objectives
• Perform development related tasks for drive features or applications for new and existing VFD’s, as assigned
• Evaluate supplier proposals to determine the best technical and most cost-effective solution for the application
• Manage equipment costs, recommending cost reductions when feasible
• Prepare purchase specification and ERP requisition in a timely manner to support the project schedule
• Conduct detailed design reviews, internally and externally, with suppliers and clients
• Provide technical and costing information for the preparation of technical proposals, using client specifications and knowledge of Company solutions
• Provide technical consultation to assist clients in specifying solutions to technology challenges that results in projects for the Company
• Provide project management services as assigned
Salary Range and Bonus Potential:
$75-95K + Site Pay

Job Requirements:
• 2 years' related work experience in specifying, designing, commissioning, and/or maintaining low and/or medium voltage, variable frequency drives
• Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
• Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
• Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Visio
• Able to climb and work on cranes at heights up to approximately 175 feet, occasionally
• Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 15%, occasionally with limited notice
• 5 years' related work experience in specifying, designing, commissioning, and/or maintaining low and/or medium voltage, variable frequency drives

Job Desirables:
• Demonstrated knowledge of VFD application to complex coordinated control systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of DC to DC or DC to AC VFD retrofit projects
• Demonstrated project engineering and/or project management knowledge, skills, and experience
• Demonstrated successful working relationships mechanical OEM's and end-user clients
• Knowledge of electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN etc.

Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
